Solomon's Temple & Wisdom Literature
The First Temple on Mount Moriah, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon
King Solomon constructed the First Temple in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah ( 1 Kings 6 , 2 Chronicles 3 ) to house the Ark of the Covenant and fostered Israel 's golden age of biblical wisdom literature.
Construction & Dedication of the First Temple
Using cedars from Lebanon supplied by Tyre and stone quarried in Jerusalem , Solomon built the Temple doubling the floor plan of the Wilderness Tabernacle ( 1 Kings 6:2 ). At its dedication ( 1 Kings 8:6 , 2 Chronicles 5:7 ), the priests placed the Ark of the Covenant beneath the wings of the cherubim in the Most Holy Place , and the glory of the Lord filled the house.
Biblical Wisdom & Poetic Books
Alongside the Psalms of David , Asaph , and the Sons of Korah , the Solomonic tradition encompasses Proverbs ( Proverbs 1:1 ), Ecclesiastes ( Ecclesiastes 1:1 ), Song of Solomon ( Song of Solomon 1:1 ), and in the Deuterocanonical corpus, the Wisdom of Solomon and Sirach.
