Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy (1978 AD)

Definitive 19-article confession defining evangelical biblical inerrancy

The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy was produced by the International Council on Biblical Inerrancy (ICBI) in 1978, signed by nearly 300 evangelical scholars. Across 19 Articles of Affirmation and Denial, it articulated that Scripture is without error or fault in all its teachings, no less in what it states about God's acts in creation and the events of world history than in its witness to God's saving grace in individual lives.
