Last Will and Testament of the Springfield Presbytery (1804 AD)

Barton W. Stone's dissolution of his presbytery to 'sink into union with the Body of Christ at large'

The *Last Will and Testament of the Springfield Presbytery* was signed by Barton W. Stone and five companion ministers (Richard M'Nemar, John Dunlavy, John Thompson, Robert Marshall, and David Purviance) in 1804, formally dissolving their independent frontier presbytery with ironic legal wit, willing that 'this body die, be dissolved, and sink into union with the Body of Christ at large; for there is but one body, and one Spirit...'.
