The Flood & Noahic Covenant
The Deluge, the Ark of Noah, and the Table of Nations in Genesis 6–10
In the tenth generation from Adam , Noah builds an ark to preserve life through the global Flood ( Genesis 6:14 , Genesis 7:6 ), leading to God's everlasting covenant with all living creatures and the repopulation of the earth through Shem , Ham , and Japheth .
Noah's Ark & the Deluge
Born to Lamech and grandson of Methuselah ( Genesis 5:28 ), Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. When Noah was 600 years old ( Genesis 7:6 ), the fountains of the great deep burst forth. The ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat ( Genesis 8:4 ).
The Rainbow Covenant & Table of Nations
In Genesis 9:13 , God establishes the Noahic Covenant signified by the rainbow. From Noah 's sons—especially Shem ( Genesis 10:21 , Genesis 11:10 )—descend Elam , Asshur , and Arpachshad , leading to Eber and Peleg ( 1 Chronicles 1:17 , Luke 3:36 ).
